Dept. Of Health Reports No New Deaths Due To COVID-19; 565 New Cases

On August 3, the Department of Health reported no additional deaths as a result of COVID-19. The total number of deaths remains at 7,209.

As of 12:00 a.m. August 3, there were 565 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 114,155 in all 67 counties.

Approximately 8,353 of Pennsylvania’s total positive cases are in health care workers.

County-specific information and a statewide map are available.

Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

-- 1 percent are ages 0-4;

-- 1 percent are ages 5-12;

-- 3 percent are ages 13-18;

-- 9 percent are ages 19-24;

-- 37 percent are ages 25-49;

-- Nearly 23 percent are ages 50-64; and

-- 24 percent are ages 65 or older.

Most of the patients hospitalized are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. There have been no pediatric deaths to date. More data is available here.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 19,628 resident cases of COVID-19, and  3,991 cases among employees, for a total of 23,619 at 856 distinct facilities in 61 counties.
