Dept. Of Health Reported 15 Additional Deaths Due To COVID-19; 888 New Cases

On August 1, the Department of Health reported 15 additional deaths as a result of COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths to 7,204.

As of 12:00 a.m. August 1, there were 888 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 112,936 in all 67 counties.

Approximately 8,271 of Pennsylvania’s total positive cases are in health care workers.

County-specific information and a statewide map are available.

Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

-- 1 percent are ages 0-4;

-- 1 percent are ages 5-12;

-- 3 percent are ages 13-18;

-- 9 percent are ages 19-24;

-- 37 percent are ages 25-49;

-- Nearly 23 percent are ages 50-64; and

-- 24 percent are ages 65 or older.

Most of the patients hospitalized are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. There have been no pediatric deaths to date. More data is available here.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 19,558 resident cases of COVID-19, and  3,954 cases among employees, for a total of 23,512 at 856 distinct facilities in 61 counties.
